[edit] Summary

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Flyy Girl follows Tracy Ellison from age six to seventeen. The story begins at the most formative part of Tracy's life -- her sixth birthday. The relationships involving her family and friends profoundly effect the way Tracy views her world. Tracy's best friend Raheema is also presented with the same view; however, the two come to very different believes about how the world works and how they should act.

Although Tracy's storyline is dominant, Raheema's storyline provides the balance that made Flyy Girl appealing to more readers. Tracy becomes the "fast" girl that all the "players" are after while Rahemma is left to pursue the slower pace of everyday life. They serve as foils to one another.

Tracy begins to realize some of the downsides of the path she has chosen as she begins to grow up. Although she isn't willing to change all of her habits, by the end of the novel Tracy has changed for the better.
