"Flying the Flag (for You)" is a song written by Russ Spencer, Morten Schjolin, Andrew Hill and Paul Tarry and performed by British pop/bubblegum dance group Scooch. The song was entered into Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up in 2007, the British national preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Scooch performed the song on 17 March 2007 when it was voted the winner. It will represent the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki, Finland.
[edit] Sexual Innuendo
It must be noted that there is a large amount of double-entendre throughout the song. Sexual innuendo can be found in the song's spoken lyrics and in the dance moves, hand gestures and props used in a performance of the song.
The lyrics in question - and the dance moves, hand gestures and props - were seen in the 17 March 2007 peformance. These will most likely play part in the group's performance at the Eurovision Song Contest:
Some salted nuts sir?
[An over-sized bag of salted nuts is shown]
--
To fasten your seatbelt insert the fitting
[The right arm with the hand in a fist is quickly moved across the body to the left]
To use the life vest, slip it over your head
[Both arms are lifted above the head and an unrolling action is performed - like that of unrolling a condom]
Pull firmly on the red cord and blow into the mouthpiece
[A pulling action is peformed twice with the right hand, then the left hand is lifted towards the lips]
--
We wish you a very pleasurable journey
[Both hands (touching the body) are moved upwards from the knees in a seductive manner and a kiss is blown]
--
Would you like something to suck on for landing sir?
[An over-sized wrapped sweet is shown]
