Fly-in
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A fly-in is an event normally held at airports where pilots are invited to fly their aircraft to the airport where it's held to put it on display for visitors and fellow pilots and to meet with other people. Fly-ins are can be aimed at specific aircraft, such as taildraggers, warbirds, experimental aircraft or specific aircraft models. They're sometimes also combined with other events such as air or car shows.
Some fly-ins are organized about a meal, often a "breakfast fly-in" providing pancakes, sausages, etc., for a small donation by the participants. To encourage the appearance of special aircraft, those appearing with a biplane, warhawk, etc, eat for free.
