by substituting a 9alpha fluoro grp onto an analog of 17alpha methyltestosterone, fluoxymesterone has 20x the anabolic and 10x the androgenic activity. it has a mean halflife of 9hrs and < 5% of the drug is excreted unchanged. adverse effects include sodium and water retention that can cause edema.
