Fluorescein diacetate hydrolysis

fluorescein diacetate hydrolysis (FDA) assays can be used to measure enzyme activity produced by microbes in a sample. A bright yellow glow is produced and is strongest when enzymic activity is greatest. This can be quantified using a spectrophotometer.
