Floyd B. Parks

Major Floyd Bruce Parks (16 January 1911 – 4 June 1942) was an officer in the United States Marine Corps.
Born in Salisbury, Missouri, Parks was a member of the United States Naval Academy class of 1934, and was appointed a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps 1 June 1934. He commanded Marine Fighting Squadron 221 in the Battle of Midway, in which he was killed, 4 June 1942, while leading his men against a superior force of Japanese bombers and fighters. For his heroism, Major Parks was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross.
USS Floyd B. Parks (DD-884) was named for him.
