Florida State Road 992

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

State Road 992 is a short (3 miles) east-west highway in Richmond Heights, Florida, USA, connecting U.S. Route 1/SR 5 (South Dixie Highway) and the Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike (SR 821). Residents know SR 992 by two other names -- Southwest 152d Street and Coral Reef Drive -- but both names apply to a street that extends beyond the limits of SR 992.

While the primary purpose of the SR 992 designation is to help motorists go from the turnpike to the US Highway, the road in south Miami-Dade County serves more than the bedroom community that is Richmond Heights. Jackson Memorial South Hospital (formerly Deering Hospital) and other emergency services are at the eastern end of SR 992, across the street from Palmetto Golf Course. Just west of the turnpike (and the western end of SR 992) are Miami MetroZoo and the Gold Coast Railroad Museum.
