State Road 62 extends 37 miles through unincorporated Manatee and Hardee counties, and passes through Florida scrubland, from Parrish to near Bowling Green. The road is only two lanes wide over its entire route. It also cuts through the Manatee River basin. The road crosses Horse Creek and the North Fork of the Manatee River. It provides access to the Tampa Bay area from Hardee County. Inside Duette, "State Road 62" meets with the intersection of Keentown Road. Keentown Road is a 1.8-mile dirt road that leads into the hamlet of Keentown, a farming community. They're only 3 major junctions on this highway, SR 37, SR 39, and CR 663. Just a block east of the railroad tracks is CR 663. It provides an alternative to SR 70 of U.S. Route 17. It is 2 lanes wide, paved, and along railroad tracks. It is also an alternative to SR 72. 5 miles east of Parrish is Parrish Lake. It is home to a power plant and a boat ramp. However, Pariish Lake is an artificial lake. In Hardee County, the road does not turn to the left or right for 14 miles.
