Florida State Road 605
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
State Road 605 is the former Florida Department of Transportation designation for two former alignments of U.S. Route 1 (Dixie Highway) in Indian River County and St. Lucie County north of Fort Pierce, Florida. The 12-mile-long southern section, from Avenue N in Fort Pierce to the county line, is now St. Lucie County Road 605, which continues northward (as Indian River County Road 605) from an intersection with US 1 near the St. Lucie County-Indian River County border to an intersection with 20th Street (SR 60) in Vero Beach.
A second section of CR 605 extends six miles northward from Commerce Avenue (US 1/SR 5) near 38th Place in Vero Beach (just north of Vero Beach Municipal Airport) to US 1 just north of Wabasso Road (SR 510) in Wabasso.
Both sections are unsigned (as Florida State Roads or County Roads - and some maps also indicate the northernmost mile of the northern section to be Indian River County Road 5A), adjacent to Florida East Coast Railroad tracks, and named "Old Dixie Highway" for their entire lengths.
Between Fort Pierce and Stuart, another stretch of road adjacent to the FEC railroad tracks (Indian River Drive and Dixie Highway), another former alignment of US 1 and the Dixie Highway, is known as State Road 707 and St. Lucie County Road 707.
