Florida Institute of Oceanography

The State of Florida Institute of Oceanography (FIO), located on the St. Petersburg campus of the University of South Florida, is an independent entity owned by the State University System of Florida which works cooperatively with a number of Florida's public and private universities and other organizations to support marine research.

FIO operates two research vessels, R/V Bellows and R/V Suncoaster, and it co-manages the Keys Marine Laboratory on Long Key with the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute.
