Florida Air Academy

Florida Air Academy(FAA) is a private co-ed boarding school founded in 1961 by Jonathan Dwight, located in Melbourne, Florida. Students grade 6-12 are provided college-preparatory education. There is an enrollment of 480 students and 45 faculty members. Parents who send their children to FAA are making a good decision for those hoping to enter one of the branches of the armed forces. This school has a very high percentage of people who move on to prestigious colleges around the country.
School Memberships include NAIS, SAIS, TABS, AMCSUS. Florida Air Academy is accredited by SACS.

[edit] Cadet Life
Cadets rise every morning to reveille, and the proceed downstairs to eat breakfast. Then the day students arrive on the many buses. then all of the squadrons have their own formation and then all of the cadets proceed to carrying out the day. The day has 8 class periods and then a 9th period which varies every day. On Monday-Thursday, there is also a 10th period where students may go to their teachers to get individual help if they need it. On the weekends the boarding students have the choice of going home on home leave if they choose to. If they decide to stay, there are activities on the weekends that include going to Disney World, Sea World, etc.
[edit] Drum and Bugle Corps.
The school also has a team that is called the Drum and Bugle Corps.This picture here happens to be the jazz band. It is made up of some very talented musicians who play the contra, soprano bugle, melophone, baritone, and a trap set. The jazz band does not get many chances to perform in public, so when they were offered the opportunity to play at the Class 3A Basketball State Finals, the took it and they gave everyone a spectacular performance. The rest of the D&B corp. is made up of the instrumnts from the jazz band butin larger numbers. There are two instruments that are in the D&B corp that are not in the jazz band. They would be the bass drums and the quads. The D&B Corp performs at numerous locations in Florida, including at the Edison Festival of Lights, in Ft. Myers, FL.

FAA is infamous for its high theft rate and drug use. If a cadet's personal belongings are not locked up they will be stolen without a doubt. Students are still at a loss even if they know who the perpetrator is because if they tell they will be labeled as a "snitch". Snitches often hve to change room's because of the harrassment they recieve. This includes getting jumped, having your stuff continually jacked, and having your bed urinated in. At least half the school consists of druggies who are there on a program. Plus there is a lot of gang activity.
