Florida Abortion

In 1973 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that women have a constitutional right to choose.
This case, Roe V. Wade, made it legal for women to have an abortion anywhere in the United States, in the early stages of pregnancy.
In 1992, the Court upheld the basic right to abortion in Planned Parenthood v. Casey. This case also expanded the ability of the states to enact all restrictions,
except the most extreme, on women's access to abortion.

In Florida, the following restrictions on abortion were in effect as of December of 2005: The parent
of a minor must be notified prior to an abortion being provided and public finding is only available to cases of life endangerment
and victims of rape or incest.

In 2000, there were 108 abortion providers in Florida and 70% of counties had no provider.
