[edit] Biography

De La V was forced to grow with his father after his mother died of cancer when he was three years old. This caused a deep impact in De La V's life as well as in his father's. De La V, however, felt as a young boy that he wanted to be a girl. Later on, during his teenaged years, De La V, still a he, felt an urge to dress as a woman, and so, at the age of 17, he did it for the first time, dressing up as a girl and using make-up during a family party. De La V made the dress he wore for that party, discovering that he had talent to be a fashion designer.

De La V enrolled in a university, where he learned fashion designing. De La V took a job as a designer and as a promoter. She replaced later Chris Miro, a well known transvestite, at a show at the popular Buenos Aires club named "Tavaris". It was while working there that she became a vedette, catching the eyes of television and theater producer Gerardo Sofovich. She made her acting debut in "Polemica en el Bar" ("Controversy at the Bar").

De La V subsequently played little roles in many telenovelas and variety show's for Argentina's Telefe, but the show that made her an internationally known star has arguably been 2004's "Los Roldan", a telenovela with sitcom characteristics that became a smash hit across South America and among digital television viewers in the United States. In "Los Roldan", she plays "Raul Roldan," a transvestite who goes under the name "Laiza Roldan" when dressed as a woman. "Raul Roldan" was a member of a poor family until his brother, "Tito Roldan", saves a lady who is about to commit suicide. When the lady dies, she left "Tito" and the rest of the family in control of a large company and a mansion in show of gratitude. "Raul Roldan" then starts to dress as a girl, and becomes very famous across Argentina as a television show host, as "Laiza Roldan".

Florencia De La V expressed that she felt a little uncomfortable at first with being given a job as a transvestite in the soap opera. Later on, however, she accepted the fact that her character shares some life charasteristics with her, which made her a little more comfortable about playing "Laiza Roldan." She has said, however, that for her next roles, she would prefer to represent a woman.

After "Los Roldan" ended, Florencia De La V worked in Mar Del Plata. In 1998, she met the dentist, Dr. Pablo Goycochea. Among her future goals are to marry Goycochea and to adopt a baby.
