Florence Stockade

The Florence Stockade was a Confederate prisoner-of-war camp at what is now Florence, South Carolina, during the American Civil War. It operated from September 1864 through February 1865; during this time, up to 18,000 Union soldiers were imprisoned there, about 2,800 of whom died.
