Flockton

Flockton is a village in West Yorkshire halfway between Huddersfield and Wakefield with a population of 1,176 according to the 2001 census.

It is 11km (7 m) east from Huddersfield and 12km (7.5 miles) west of Wakefield. The village extends along the A637 Barnsley Road. Flockton is close to a small village called Grange Moor. The village was known for its "abundance of coal" but the coal mines in the area are no longer open. Flockton has a sporting pedigree with cricket and football teams in the Huddersfield local leagues.
