Floatzel (フローゼル Furōzeru?, Flowsel in original Japanese language versions) are one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards, and other media created by Satoshi Tajiri. The purpose of Floatzel in the games, anime, and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]
The English name for Flowsel was reported as Floatzel at the 2007 American International Toy Fair in New York City.[3] The name Floatzel is derived from float and weasel. Its Japanese name, Flowsel, is a portmanteau of the English words flow and weasel.

[edit] Biological characteristics
Floatzel appears to be based off of an otter, with two pointed blue fins on its arms and two tails, as with its pre-evolution, Buizel. The yellow flotation device it had as a Buizel appears to have grown and now functions as a boa. It gives the impression of a swimmer with towel draped around its shoulders. If Floatzel laid on its back, the structure round its neck could also be interpreted as a sort of inflatable dinghy using its tails much like its pre-evolution, as a propeller and its fins as oars. These small fins on Buizel's forelimbs grown into full-fledge fins that are used for a razor wind attack. Male Floatzel have two marks on their backs, while females have one.
[edit] In the video games
Floatzel is one of many Pokémon that first appeared in the Nintendo DS games, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. As a Water-type Pokémon, Floatzel is strong against Fire, Rock, and Ground Pokémon, but is weak against Electric and Grass Pokémon.
Floatzel evolves from Buizel at level 26.[4] It can learn the attacks Agility, Aqua Jet, Swift and Pursuit.[5] Its Speed stat is its highest stat, with a base value of 115, which makes it a very fast Pokémon. This is complemented by Floatzel's ability, Swift Swim, which raises its speed in battle when it is raining. With Swift Swim in effect, Floatzel becomes the fastest Pokemon in existence; even faster than Speed-form Deoxys. However, its Defense and Special Defense stats are low.
The fourth Sinnoh Gym Leader, Maxi of Nomose City, who uses Water Pokémon, uses a Floatzel at level 30, making it his strongest Pokémon.
