Floating continent

A floating continent is a very large landmass that hovers or flies above the ground. They appear in several video games, particularly role-playing games by SquareSoft.

Some notable examples are:

• The floating continent in Final Fantasy III.
• The Kingdom of Zeal in Chrono Trigger.
• The Floating Continent in the World of Balance in Final Fantasy VI.
• The floating continent is on the 1st stage in the game, Gaiares.

A floating continent also existed in the atmosphere of planet Jupiter in the Japanese anime TV series "Space Battleship Yamato" ("Star Blazers" in the English version).
