[edit] Biography

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

In Genso Suikoden Flik is one of the original members of the Liberation Army along with Odessa, Sanchez and Humphrey. His partner Odessa Silverberg was the leader of the Liberation army but was killed protecting a child on a surprise attack within their hidden headquarters by Scarlet Moon Empire Troops, with her last words she pleaded with Tir McDohl to take the reigns of leadership, which he agreed to. Flik was distraught over her death and has never forgiven himself for not being there to protect her. During the Gate Rune Wars, he was the cause of the Liberation Army's infamous attack on Scarleticia Castle, which resulted in the death of thousands of Liberation Army soldiers due to the poisonous pollen of Milich Oppenheimer's monstrous rose, Antoinette. Flik joined the New Liberation Army grudgingly, not accepting Tir McDohl as his new leader. However, in time he gradually recognised the leadership quality within Tir and personally acknowledged that he could see what Odessa did in Tir's ability and leadership and willingly followed him, and at points condemning individuals who spoke ill or questioned Tir. During the escape of Gregminister, he remained within the castle along with Viktor to ensure the escape of Tir and his party, after the fall of the Scarlett Moon Empire they were presumed missing..

In Suikoden II Flik had vastly matured. Flik and his best friend Viktor led a Mercanary Fortress to battle their enemy, the Highland Army, but due to a surprise ambush south of their position the fortress fell and using old Fire Spears formerly used against the Scarlett Moon Empire they burnt down the fortress to ensure the escape of Riou, Nanami and their companions.

During the Dunan Unification Wars, Flik was involved in many battles commanding Horse Archers, he was also charged with several missions, many discreet. From the spying mission of Greenhill to the quick rescue of Lady Teresa and Riou at Muse which the strategist Shu foresaw.

When Highland was finally beaten both he and Viktor returned to their travels, but not that much time had passed and the High East Rebellion occurred (The former lands of Highland) spurned on by the intervention of the Holy Kingdom of Harmonia, Flik and Viktor once more threw in their support behind the new Leader of the Dunan Republic, President Teresa and with the cunning of the genius tactician, Shu, the rebellion was quickly dealt with.

[edit] Weapon

Flik uses a sword. According to the tradition of the Warrior's Village, he named his sword after the woman he loved.

  • Odessa (Level 1-4)
  • Odessa + (Level 5-10)
  • Odessa ++ (Level 11-16)

[edit] Trivia

Flik sports an uncanny resemblance to John Taylor, the bassist for Duran Duran. Seeing as how Taylor has enjoyed enormous success in Japan (both with Duran Duran and as a solo artist), it would appear that one of the character designers for Suikoden used Taylor as the visual template in designing Flik.
