Fleksnes Fataliteter

Fleksnes Fataliteter, commonly known only as Fleksnes, was a Norwegian television comedy series produced between 1972 and 1988, and based on scripts for a British show called "Hancock's Half Hour" by Ray Galton and Alan Simpson. The show was rewritten in Norwegian by Bo Hermansson.

The main character Marve Fleksnes (played by Rolv Wesenlund) is a bachelor living with his mother, called "Modern" ("moms") (played by Aud Schønemann). Marve can be seen as a typical Norwegian. Most of the humorous moments arise when the character Fleksnes expresses extraordinary opinions about life and when everything seems to go wrong despite his best intentions.

Fleksnes was only meant to be a series of about 5 or 6 programmes, but it became so successful that as many as 6 seasons were made.

A movie called "Den Siste Fleksnes" ("The Last Fleksnes") was made in 1974.

In 2002 Galton and Simpson wrote the script for some brand new Fleksnes episodes, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first episode. When the series aired on NRK in Norway in 2002, it gathered over 1.000.000 viewers on average each Saturday.

As well as in Norway, the series was successful in Sweden and Denmark. As most episodes included both Swedish and Danish actors, the series was trilingual. Many Scandinavians (here meaning Danes, Norwegians and Swedes) understand the other two languages without any problem, but in order to make all viewers understand, the series was usually partly subtitled in all three countries.
