Explanation of how the Red and White colors were arrived at in this image and future plans/Wyjaśnienie jak Czerwony i Biały zostały wybrane dla tej grafiki i plany na przyszłość

Note: The colors you see here were rendered into RGB (sRGB) for web display, based on the xyY color space description provided by Polish law and a permissible deviation expressed as a CIELUV specification. The transformation from those to hexadecimal RGB values was calculated on 29 November 2006 at the Polish Wikipedia talk page about the Polish flag w:pl:Dyskusja:Flaga Polski by Polish Wikipedian DeJotPe (see: [1]). The colors in RGB are as follows: white: #E9E8E7 and red: #D4213D. Note, that the assumed white point is 6500K, and that the color shades you see here depend on your browser and screen settings, and on the surrounding screen context. An intensely luminous light background will make the official white color appear slightly gray. Most websites which show Polish national colors loosely approximate the legally specified colors by using basic HTML colors: white #FFFFFF and red #FF0000.

Continuing efforts are being made to better approximate for universal computer display the official white and red of the Polish flag, as well as to obtain a ruling from the Polish government on the matter of displaying the flag as a luminous computer image. Accordingly, this flag depiction will be updated as future developments warrant.

This is a copy of Image:Flag of Poland corrected.svg and supersedes all previous images of the Polish flag uploaded on Wikimedia Commons under this name. This is the version uploaded at 19:10 CDT on 29 November 2006.

Official Polish Specification/Oficjalna polska specyfikacja

English

Colors of the Republic of Poland are given by the specifications in and attachment no. 2 to the Coat-of-arms, Colors and Anthem of the Republic of Poland, and State Seals Act (Dz. U. of the year 2005, Number 235, Item 2000 (Dz. U. z 2005 r. Nr 235, poz. 2000))

The Coat of Arms etc. Act specifies the the x,y,Y coordinates of the national colors in the CIE 1976 color space as follows:

Color x y Y ΔE
White 0.315 0.320 82.0 4.0
Red 0.570 0.305 16.0 8.0
Illuminant C, measurement geometry d/0

As described above, these specifications were rendered into the sRGB color space, assuming a white point of 6500K, yielding the following hexadecimal RGB values:

Color R G B
  White E9 E8 E7
  Red D4 21 3D

Polski

Barwy Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej
na podstawie przepisów oraz załącznika nr 2 do Ustawy o godle, barwach i hymnie Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej oraz o pieczęciach państwowych ((Dz. U. z 2005 r. Nr 235, poz. 2000))

Ustawa o godle itd. ustala współrzędne x,y,Y barw narodowych w przestrzeni barw CIE 1976 następująco:

Barwa x y Y ΔE
Biała 0.315 0.320 82.0 4.0
Czerwona 0.570 0.305 16.0 8.0
Iluminata C, geometria pomiarowa d/0

Jak podano powyżej, przeliczenia powyższych danych ze współrzędnych trójchromatycznych x,y,Y na przestrzeń barw sRGB, zakładając punkt bieli 6500K, dało poniższe szesnastkowe rezultaty RGB:

Barwa R G B
  Biała E9 E8 E7
  Czerwona D4 21 3D
