Flavia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

FLAVIA is a hot beverage system from Mars, Incorporated, that prepares single servings of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate drinks. Flavia launched its first brewer in 1984. FLAVIA Drink Stations also make cappuccino, mochaccino and chai latte beverages.

The patented Flavia technology brews drinks in a single serve "filterpack" which means that the pack is the actual brewing chamber. Then the drink pours directly from the packet into the cup rather than through a common funnel so that each drink is not tainted by the previously brewed drink.

The filterpacks are foil-sealed thus protecting the fresh ground coffees and teas from oxygen and moisture. In contrast to traditional coffee makers the system avoids the mess of coffee grounds resulting in minimal upkeep and no cleaning between drinks. The Flavia system has been available in the workplace for nearly a decade and there are two different Flavia machines available.
