The Flash and Circle is the best known symbol of the British Union of Fascists. It was chosen to represent "action within unity".

It was the BUF's second symbol. At first, briefly, the BUF had used the fasces of Mussolini's fascists.

The lightning bolt within a circle was adopted as the symbol of the American National Renaissance Party, superseding Madole's initial use of the swastika. It decorated their rostrum and was worn on their armbands.

It was parodied by the BUF's left-wing opponents as "the flash in the pan."

The 'Circle and Flash' symbol is similar to the insignia of the Singapore 'People's Action Party' (PAP). It has similar colour scheme, however unlike the BUF symbol the PAP's insignia is composed of a red flash struck through a smaller blue circle on a white background. The PAP insignia like the BUF symbol represents 'Action within social/racial unity' however the white background represents purity in thought and deed.
