Flash-cut

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A flash-cut is when a system is changed immediately, with no phase-in period. Some telephone area codes codes were split in an immediate change, rather than being phased-in. An example is telephone Area code 213, which was split into area code 213 and 714 all at once. Another example is an immediate switch from an analog TV channel to a digital TV channel, such as WGNM or W39CO. A flash-cut can also define when multiple components of computer infrastructure is upgraded in multiple ways, all at once, with no phase-in period.
