The Flag of the Department of La Guajira is one of the symbols that represent the Department of La Guajira, it is officially used by the government and by its representatives.
At the moment of the creation of the Department of La Guajira, the current flag was already in use for the Intendancy of La Guajira, so it was officially adopted by the Ordinance 28 of 1966, on September 29, 1966.
The flag was last modified on 1994 by the Ordinance 052.

The flag of the Department of La Guajira has a simple design, a horizontal bicolor, with the colors green and white.
The green, symbolizes the hope of the farmers of La Guajira in the sowing and raising of their crops. The white symbolizes the purity of the indigenous people of La Guajira, who are known to be peacefull, and noble. It also represent the natural resources of the Department, Salt, and Pearls.
