The Flag of the Department of Amazonas was officially adopted on August 21, 1974, by means of the Commissarial Decree Nº 090.

The flag design is a defaced fimbriated horizontal tricolour triband of unequal sizes.

[edit] Dimensions

Its dimensions, colors and other characteristics were determined by the Commissarial Government of 1974, which was headed by the Special Commissioner, Cesar Moreno Salazar, and the Secretary of Government José Salazar Ramírez.

The dimensions of the flag are 2.10 meters in length by 1.30 meters in width. The green top stripe is 90cm in width, the yellow stripe is 8cm with two fimbriated in black .5cm each, and the white stripe is 32cm.

The flag is defaced by three charges all in sable.

  • The first one is located in the lower part of the hoist in the green stripe; it is an indigenous warrior in a shooting stance with a bow pointing up. It is 29cm long by 23cm tall.
  • The second one is located in the upper right section of the fly also in the green stripe; it is a jaguar jumping off diagonally in direction to the arrow. It is 37cm long by 15cm tall.
  • The last charge is a five-pointed star(), which is located in the yellow stripe just under the tiger; the star represents the city of Leticia. It is 20cm long by 15cm tall.
