The flag of Serbia and Montenegro was adopted on April 27, 1992, as the flag of Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

The flag is a tricolor of red, white, and blue, and as such is very similar to a great number of flags around the world. The flags of the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Russia, and France, among others, may be easily confused with the flag of Serbia and Montenegro.

The civil and state ensign (Image:FIAV historical.png ) differs in having a 2:3 ratio, while the naval ensign (Image:FIAV historical.png ) is a 2:3 Red Ensign with the civil ensign in the canton.

In blazons, the flag is described Per fess Azure and Gules, a fess Argent.
