FK Venta Kuldīga was a Latvian football club based in Kuldīga, in western Latvia. They were established in 1965 and were named after the Venta River In 1967, they wone the Latvian cup(next year they lost in the final). And in 1969 they won the Latvian championship.

In 2004, they finished 2nd place in the Latvian 1. liga and played playoffs against the team that finished 7th in the league above them (Virslīga), FC Ditton-2. They won both legs 1:0 and were consequently promoted. As of 2005, whilst playing in Virslīga, they experienced financial problems and faced closure at the end of the season.

FK Venta finished bottom of the Virslīga in 2005 and were relegated to 1. līga. On October 19, 2005 the Disciplinary Committee of Latvian Football Federation voted to:

  • Prevent FK Venta from finishing the 2005 season;
  • Forbid FK Venta from starting the 2006 season until they become financially stable.

FK Venta failed to achieve this, after the manager Rostislav Schtin left the club and moved to Russia. The president Jānis Fridrihsbergs couldn't manage the club's finances, and the club consequently went into liquidation.
