FishTanked is a webcomic written and illustrated by Joe Angrisano (sometimes cited as Joe Angerson). The series was first produced in 2002 and saw only a limited run of comics produced until the strip was revived in August of 2006. In its short initial run the comic was featured in several major publications, including USA Today, The Register,The Guardian and Web User Magazine. It was also mentioned briefly on BBC Radio and was a Yahoo UK Pick on the online directory Yahoo.co.UK.
The comic itself focuses mainly on a sardonic dialogue between two brightly colored fish living in a fish tank. The main characters, Gill and Steve, operate in traditional Comic foil or double act fashion and have exchanges covering a wide array of topics including religion, politics, science and popular culture. As the feed, Gill a brightly colored clown fish, is often the target of barbs thrown by the larger, Steve.
The comic is produced on an irregular schedule, or what the author likes to call "almost weekly".
