The Fisherman is a DC Comics supervillain, primarily an enemy of Aquaman. He first appeared in Aquaman v2, #21 (May 1965). He utilized specialized lures and a fishing rod as weapons to entangle his enemies.

Fisherman was killed in Gotham Central #37 (2005), though during autopsy it was revealed that it was not the original villain with that name.

A new, more deadly, version of the villain appeared in Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis #48-49 (2007) by Kurt Busiek. The xenoform parasite that attaches itself to every incarnation of the Fisherman is revealed as a Lovecraftian alien of sorts, attaching itself to a host and using it to instill fear in his victims.

[edit] In Other Media

The Fisherman appeared in several episodes of The Superman/Aquaman Hour of Adventure in the Aquaman segments.
