The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1987 took place February 11-21, 1987 in Oberstdorf, West Germany. Following the domination of the skating technique in 1985, FIS decided to introduce separate races in the classical and the free style in 1987. For the first and only time (besides the 1988 Winter Olympics), the relays consisted of four freestyle legs.
