[edit] 2 blocks in 1 minute

You are the second person to block my IP address in 1 minute...not bad. I'm sorry if that sounded rude, its just that today I have been blocked 8 times, out of an innumberable amount of times I have been blocked throughout the summer. Could this be reversed ASAP, because I was about to add something important to an article.

Thanks,

Dwslassls —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dwslassls (talkcontribs).

Tell me if I'm missing something, but you can't be blocked if you're editing my talk page... — FireFox (talk) 19:37, 01 September 2006
I recently studied Wikipedia:Autoblock, which says this is possible (last para). Autoblocks are cleared within 24h. Is Wikipedia:Autoblock correct? --Ligulem 14:37, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nice user page...

There's always been something good on your user page (for when I am incredibly bored), but I think this design is the best yet. Although I would swap the first two fox photos round. Nice work. Come over to simple some time if you ever get bored. Archer7 11:46, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks :) and I might come over and visit at some point, yeah. — FireFox (talk) 11:49, 02 September 2006

[edit] A RfA thank you from en:User:Xyrael

WikiThanks
I'd like to thank you FireFox for either supporting, opposing, commenting, nominating, reading, editing, promoting and/or anything else that you may have done for my successful request for adminship (I've broken the one thousand sysop barrier!); I'm thanking you for getting involved, and for this I am very grateful. I hope to be able to serve Wikipedia more effectively with my new tools and that we can continue to build our free encyclopedia, for knowledge is power, but only wisdom is liberty. Please do feel free to get in touch if you feel you can improve me in any way; I will be glad to listen to all comments. Again, thanks 8)             —Xyrael / 11:50, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Yeahhhh, woo! Congratulations! — FireFox (talk) 11:52, 02 September 2006

[edit] Sorry

I'm sorry I was just trying to avoid unnecessary pictures on the Madrid article. I tried to tell the guy who was posting them to stop but he didn't listen. Anyways, I neither knew I couldn't edit my own 'my talk' page warnings... sorry again. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jortegag (talkcontribs).

No problem. Instead of removing messages from your talk page you're strongly advised to archive them instead, which is fully acceptable. — FireFox (talk) 12:47, 02 September 2006

[edit] A favor?

Hey Firefox, after stumbling across Wikipedia:User page I've found out that my User:Borisblue/Code page is a violation of policy. Would you mind deleting it? Thanks! Borisblue 18:25, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Done, thanks, — FireFox (talk) 18:29, 02 September 2006

[edit] Bot approval

I noticed you removed your request to join the bot approvals group, hope I didn't annoy as you are a nice person.--Andeh 13:35, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] FFbot

Hi, can you update FFbot so it uses the new format of by-date templates, as they now have optional parameters, e.g. {{Wikify|September 2006}} rather than {{Wikify-date|September 2006}}, though the old ones do still work. Also, it's best to update all the by-date tags at once (as AWB does automatically), this saves editting each article multiple times to update each by-date category. thanks Martin 19:24, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Sure. — FireFox (talk) 19:26, 03 September 2006

[edit] Computing, eh?

I see you'll soon be studying computing A-level. I'll be studying computing as well - it looks pretty good don't you think? --Alex (talk here) 23:51, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

And five subjects! How will you cope? --Alex (talk here) 23:52, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Yeah it looks good, but a lot of hard work. Especially with my five subjects, it's going to be a lot of work :( Oh well, it'll be worth it in the future. — FireFox (talk) 09:51, 04 September 2006
Will you still have enough time for Wikipedia? :) --Alex (talk here) 11:25, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
I hope so – should do! — FireFox (talk) 12:05, 04 September 2006

[edit] Long-Overdue RfA Thanks from Alphachimp

Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which was successful with a an overwhelmingly flattering and deeply humbling total of 138/2/2 (putting me #10 on the RfA WP:100). I guess infinite monkey theorem has been officially proven. Chimps really can get somewhere on Wikipedia.

With new buttons come great responsibility, and I'll try my best to live up to your expectations. If you need assistance with something, don't hesitate to swing by my talk page or email me (trust me, I do respond :)). The same goes for any complaints or comments in regard to my administrative actions. Remember, I'm here for you.

(Thanks go to Blnguyen for the incredible photo to the right.) alphaChimp laudare 01:04, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Welcome back! alphaChimp laudare 01:04, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, and a long-overdue congratulations :) — FireFox (talk) 09:52, 04 September 2006

[edit] User Categories

Your Bot "FFBot" changed my category from Category:UK Wikipedians to Category:British Wikipedians while in my case this is true it is not generally true? an not what I wanted

The UK consists of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland (Plus a few Islands) Britian is Just England, Scotland, and Wales, and none of the islands - If you've been changing all of these you will have just annoyed all the Wikipeadians in Northern Island! (and probably a few in the Islands?) Jaster 07:44, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

I understand what the difference is between the UK and Britain :) However, I didn't make the decision – the categories were changed as result of a discussion here. Please feel free (and this is to anyone else who has the same query) to rename the category to something more suitable for you, personally, but bare in mind Category:UK Wikipedians has been deleted. Thanks, — FireFox (talk) 09:58, 04 September 2006
Err... It looks like "Category:UK Wikipedians" has been replaced by "Category:Wikipedians in the United Kingdom" so I am using that instead. The link points to the summary of the discussion but not to any reasoning, do you know where this is ...? Jaster 12:36, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
I don't, sorry. — FireFox (talk) 12:37, 04 September 2006

[edit] Winhunter's RfA thanks

Hi FireFox, thank you for supporting me in my RfA, which was closed as successful today with a finaly tally of (56/0/3). I will be very careful at first to avoid any mistakes. Please feel free to leave a message in my talk page if you have any comments/suggestions about me in the future. Once again, thank you! --WinHunter (talk) 09:05, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Congratulations. — FireFox (talk) 09:59, 04 September 2006

[edit] Question

Hi firefox, i heard you're one of the best members in esperanza, so i'd just like to know a bit more about the special signature with the little green letter in it =P. - EmeZxX 14:08, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi Michael. Well, many 'Esperanzians' choose to have their signature with a green e (or another letter if they don't have an e). The 'e' normally links to Wikipedia:Esperanza itself: [[Wikipedia:Esperanza|<font color="green">e</font>]], or links to a user subpage, such as [[User:EmeZxX/Esperanza|<font color="green">e</font>]] which will show as e. On the user subpage, people normally put the template {{greene}}, you can see that in action here. I trust you know how to change your signature (in preferences), so feel free to try it out! I hope I've answered your question, but if not (or if you have any other questions), feel free to ask! — FireFox (talk) 14:30, 04 September 2006

[edit] Advice

I'm seeking a little advice. I've noticed two lesser known and spam ridden articles that are idential and have marked them (hopefully correctly) for merging. they are Acoustic branding and Sound branding. However the Anon IP 80.171.10.208 who is adding spam links has removed the spam-cleanup and the merge tags twice already. can you tell me what I should do next rather than adding them again over and over if this continues? thanks for your time --Timdew 14:10, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Well, firstly be sure that you don't break the three revert rule. The best thing to do would be to try and discuss it with the anon user, either through the two talk pages or on his own user talk page. The external links still need cutting down majorly though, there is far too much nonsense there. — FireFox (talk) 14:15, 05 September 2006
thanks I will tackle the spam once he stops adding it so we don't get into an edit war and I'll post a message on his talk page and wait to see what happens. thanks for your advice--Timdew 14:19, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
No problem. — FireFox (talk) 14:21, 05 September 2006

[edit] JPD's RfA

Thanks, Firefox, for your support at my RfA, which finished with a tally of 94/1/0. I hope I live up to the confidence you have shown in me in my activities as an administrator. JPD (talk) 16:07, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

in the title of the article the name noël is spelt noel i think that this is an error how can this be corected?--Lucy-marie 17:40, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Unless you can provide sources for the correct spelling in this specific case, the article shouldn't be moved. Plus, a copy and paste move is not the correct way to move the article. Please use the "move" tab in future to prevent splitting histories. — FireFox (talk) 17:52, 06 September 2006

[edit] Re Revert of Space Science

Hi Firefox, Would appreciate so much a review of Space Science. Tried to clean it up per your request. Just got a revert from an "Uncle G" apparently who believes "animals on other planets" are science fiction. Wish he had deleted the offending parts rather the whole thing. Protozoa are technically ANIMALS (up to 1990 when another Kingdom was given to them) and as you know they are looking for microbe life on Mars and Moon and Asteroid, so TECHNICALLY we are Scientifically Looking For animals!! Thanks so much. Mike Hooten Mlhooten@gmail.com —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 166.82.166.38 (talkcontribs).

It looks fine as it is, in my opinion. And please sign your posts, it makes my life a whole lot easier. — FireFox (talk) 16:28, 12 September 2006

Thank you so much for supporting my RfA! It ended up passing and I'm rather humbled by the support (and a bit surprised that it was snowballed a day early!). Please let me know if I can help you out and I welcome any comments, questions, or advice you wish to share.

[edit] September Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
  3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
  4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!
  5. TangoTango has written a script for a bot that will list new members of Esperanza, which will help those who welcome new Esperanzains greatly!

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

[edit] Tool?

On RFCU, you said: "I used User:Voice of All's javascript to compare the two accounts' editing patterns and found that". Which tool were you referring too? =- Mgm|(talk) 23:20, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Feel free to answer here as you usually do, but please leave a quick note to let me know you've answered. - Mgm|(talk) 09:24, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stupid IRC question

Hi. There's a rumor going around that you're the person to talk to about IRC. I guess I need to get registered? I'm in #vandalism-en-wp as Wknight94 and I've set up an e-mail address and a backup nickname of Wknight94b (not feeling real creative lately). Please advise. Thanks!  :) —Wknight94 (talk) 17:57, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Talking of IRC, what can I do to be unbanned from #wikipedia-esperanza? — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 18:52, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
You're banned? I wasn't aware. I can't do anything about it unless someone explains the situation to me, i.e. who banned you and why? — FireFox (talk) 18:57, 24 September 2006
Actually I think it was 9cds... — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 19:42, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Sorry I don't follow. You said "what can I do to be unbanned" – so you didn't mean you, you meant 9cds? — FireFox (talk) 19:46, 24 September 2006
No I think 9cds was the person who banned me. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 20:02, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
9cds does not have op access in the channel and never has done. — FireFox (talk) 20:06, 24 September 2006
In that case I don't know who it was, but it was relating to the reason I was originally blocked on Wikipedia with a different username, months ago. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 20:22, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
I will need far more information than that if you want me to sort it out I'm afraid. Including your hostmark, previous username, the reason for banning... — FireFox (talk) 20:29, 24 September 2006
What's a hostmark? — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 20:46, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Ah, so mine would be i=petie@ACCE7D89.ipt.aol.com, yeah? — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 20:57, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
