I'm Firsfron, short for Firsfron of Ronchester. I've got an absolutely ridiculous username, so feel free to call me Firs. I've been an active contributer to Wikipedia since 2004. I had made a few edits in early 2004 prior to officially joining Wikipedia, under an IP address.

I am editor #213 on the List of Wikipedians by number of edits, which isn't too shabby, I guess. I am an administrator on en.wikipedia.org. If there's something I can do for you, please let me know.

[edit] My contributions

Many of my edits have been to articles on various dinosaurs. When I started on Wikipedia:WikiProject Dinosaurs, only a few decent articles had been created. That number has grown greatly in the past couple of months.

There are 223 180 63 0 dinosaurs left to create on the List of dinosaurs page (out of an original 1,100 or so). After all the articles have been categorized, verified, referenced, taxoboxed, received images, and are properly italicized, maybe I'll work on the remaining archosaurs. The list of dinosaur articles I created can be found here.

You may also have seen me on Wikipedia:WikiProject Television Stations, Wikipedia:WikiProject Buffyverse, on clean-up or vandalism revert duty, or elsewhere. I tend to get around Wikipedia. I've corrected over 1,000 incorrect "apostrophe's" on Wikipedia. :)

[edit] Good and Featured Dinosaur articles

Here are some articles I helped improve. Most of my edits were very minor, but I'd like to think I helped these articles reach GA or FA status. Almost all the Featured dinosaur articles have been collaborative efforts, with a half a dozen editors working to bring these articles up to snuff.

List of dinosaurs (114 edits)
Psittacosaurus (4 small edits)
Velociraptor (7 edits +image editing)
Tyrannosaurus (73 edits +image editing)
Stegosaurus (129 edits)
Diplodocus (54 edits)
Triceratops (60 edits +image editing)
Scelidosaurus (80 edits +image editing)
Iguanodon (86 edits +image editing)
Compsognathus (65 edits +image editing)
Archaeopteryx (62 edits)

And not quite a dinosaur, but definitely extinct, and the only other article I have helped reach GA-status:

DuMont Television Network

[edit] WikiProject Buffyverse

I originally started working on the Buffyverse project because I was so disappointed with the horrible grammar, punctuation, and spelling mistakes on Buffyverse articles. It was a little embarassing. Everyone makes spelling mistakes and typos, but many of the articles were close to unreadable in their original forms. I particularly dislike apostrophe abuse, one of the hallmarks of early Buffyverse articles.

[edit] WikiProject Dinosaurs

In sharp contrast, the Dinosaur articles contained few typos: because they (mostly) didn't exist. It was a little overwhelming at first, seeing a list of 1,000 dead, red links. But we've slowly grown a community. We're slowly filling in the gaps, and it feels really rewarding.

[edit] WikiProject TV Stations

Wikipedia TV stations has been really straightforward. There are few grammatical errors, and the people who have written the articles are, in many cases, people at the stations themselves. That allows for a pretty accurate article (which is sometimes biased, however). Early TV history, however, still needs to be added to the majority of stations: many articles make no mention of early affiliations with the now-forgotten DuMont Network, even when a quick Google search easily pulls up many stations. I'm slowly rectifying the problem, but there are only so many hours in the day.

[edit] Useful Tools

Interiot's JavaScript Edit Counter (Requires Firefox or Opera) A tool which counts the number of edits a contributer has made, in organized categories. It is a temporary replacement for Interiot's Edit Counter, which no longer works properly (see below).
Essjay's edit counter A tool which counts the number of edits a contributer has made, in organized categories. It runs much faster than Interiot's tool, above.
Duesentrieb's CatScan A tool designed to show category hierarchies, and list all the articles within them. It's highly useful for finding missing categories, and arranging articles by category. It also can be used to list very short articles by number of kilobytes, which is ideal for finding short articles.
Interiot's Contribution Tree A tool which shows how many edits a contributer has made to each article.
Interiot's Edit Counter A tool which counts the number of edits a contributer has made, in organized categories.
Alexandrov's MathBot A tool which counts the percentages of edit summaries of any given user. This was once used in the Requests for Adminship, but was also useful for any editor interested in improving his edits by being able to monitor his own contributions to Wikipedia.

[edit] Barnstars and WikiAwards

I'm really happy to have received each of these. The first three were awarded to me in April of 2006. I don't know what I did that month to receive not just one but three (Or perhaps I should ask myself what I was doing wrong all those other months...)! Thank you everyone.
