  • English: A plaque on the Istituto S.Salvatore building in Florence. Suggested translation: Latin: "Ferdinando II de' Medici, the Grand Duke of Tuscany, and Maria Magdalena the mother of the Grand Duke, have completed the pious work of [constructing] this building, so that the guardians of chastity can evade the golden enemy with modesty".

Hebrew: "They acted in kindness for the love of God, the ascension of supremacy of our rulers against kindness."
Latin: "Inflamed with divine love, our rulers have offered an example of great honorableness against the greatest dishonor. AD 1627."

Experts on Florentine history and/or Latin and Hebrew are invited to provide a better description.
  • Latina: D.O.M. Ferdinandus II Mag.d.Etrur, et Maria Magdalena mater Archidaust. huius aedificii opus pio aere perfecerut, ut auru hostis castitatis custos evaderet pudicitae. [...HEBREW TEXT...] Amore divino inflammati serenis principes nori praebuere exemplum honestatis contra maximam inhonestatem. AD MDCXXVII.
