First Words

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A First Word means the first word someone has said in his/her entire lifetime. Usually it's a sign of language development.

First Words is a Canadian hip hop group, consisting of Halifax beatmaker Jorun, DJ STV and emcees Sean One & Above. Their pre-release peaked at #1 on the top 30 and hip hop charts of Fredericton, New Brunswick's CHSR, which landed them at #13 on earshot's national hip hop charts in December, 2004. In addition, their song "Down With Putting Raps Down" was featured on the National Campus and Community Radio Association's Dig Your Roots hip hop compilation album in 2004.

In 2004 First Words had released a 16 track self titled album of new material to much acclaim. The album was Deadbeats Entertainment's first release, kicking off the label's focus on local music. Deadbeats has since released the "Jorun's Way/Sean One's Way" 7", with 2 tracks per side (side one with Jorun and side two with Sean One). More releases are to come, such as the Jorun compilation album, a Sean One mix tape and talk of another First Words release. These are anticipated to be released in 2007
