First Secretary of the Admiralty
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The First Secretary of the Admiralty was an office of English Royal Naval Admiralty. The office was later renamed to the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty in 1870. In 1886 the office became the Parliamentary and Financial Secretary to the Admiralty. From 1930, the Secretary was also a Civil Lord of the Admiralty. The office became vacant in 1959 and ministerial offices were reorganised in 1964, with the creation of a Minister of State and Under-Secretary of State for the Navy.
