First Love is a 66-episode television drama produced and boradcasted by KBS2 between September 1996 and January 1997 on Thursday nights. It stars popular actor Bae Yong Joon.

Choi Soo Jung acts as an older brother of Bae Yong Joon that gives us the impact of having love for the first time. He act as Sung Chan Hyuk who is gifted as talented artists. Bae Yong Joon acts a character of Sung Chanwoo, who gives in his secret first love to his older brother and tries to become "a seed of wheat" by sacrificing himself for the family’s happiness instead of going after his own ambition. He wanders about for a while when he is in high school, after he finds out that Hyokyung, on whom he had crush while attending elementary school, feels dear to his older brother. He, however, makes his mind up and returns to his own self as he decides to support his older brother, thinking his brother (who has talent in fine arts) as Vincent van Gogh and himself, Theo, a brother of Van Gogh. After he caused an accident in a movie theater while protecting his sister and then his older brother became a vegetative state, following an traffic accident as he was chased by Hyokyung’s family due to their forbidden love, Chanwoo decides to give up his own aspiration to pass a bar examination and begins learning a casino business for which he worked part-time to earn his college tuition. Due to an unexpected accident to the president of the company, he becomes a power of Daemyung Group. Then Chanwoo slowly sets up his plan of revenge against Hyokyung’s father and her uncle. Eventually, he returns back to study laws, giving up his revenge plan and his position in the company as his older brother pleads forgiveness for his first lover and also because he remember his promise to Suk Hee (Choi Ji Woo), the girl whom he had a close personal contact while he was in university with his close buddy, Hyong Ki in the university. Hyong Ki also harbored feeling for Suk Hee due to the Suk Hee good nature and caring attittude towards friends. Hyong Ki somehow act as bridge to the relationship between Suk Hee and Chan Woo.
