First Leicester
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
First Leicester is the trading name of Leicester Citybus Ltd., a bus company owned by the First Group. It runs buses in the city of Leicester, England, and was previously owned by the Leicester City Council. It is managed as part of First Midlands which also looks after the First bus services in Northampton and Worcestershire.
First operate a comprehensive network of bus services within the city itself. Services depart from Haymarket Bus Station or on street city centre stops. Most city centre on street bus stops are within easy reach of both Haymarket and St Margaret's bus stations. Most city services use on-street bus stops in the City Centre as their Leicester terminus, not using either main bus station. These stops are located in the centre of Leicester, situated to the south of St. Margarets Bus Station, and approximately 10-15 minutes walk from Leicester Railway Station.
The services in operation run to Glenfield (Kirby Frith & Braunstone Frith Estates), Braunstone Town, Aylestone, Eyres Monsell, South Wigston, De Montfort University, Evington, Leicester General Hospital, Goodwood, Humberstone, Nether Hall, Hamilton Centre, Thurmaston, Rushey Mead, Birstall, Mowmacre Hill, Beaumont Leys and Anstey. There is also a circular service operating that runs to Highfields and returns to the city centre.
