[edit] Tornado of 1998
On February 16, 1998, a tornado damaged the Dillard's store and the Sugar Land Aerodrome across the street from the Dillard's side of the mall.[2] The tornado hit the northeast corner of the store and caused a support wall to collapse, sending bricks to the sidewalk below. Part of the interior was damaged and five to six inches of water accumulated inside the store.
[edit] Lifestyle center addition
The mall has added a lifestyle center wing in front of the main entrance. Some stores like Ann Taylor have relocated from the mall, while others like White House/Black Market are opening their first locations in the mall. There are also two restauraunts next to the addition, Kona Grill and The Cheesecake Factory. Since the lifestyle wing was built on the front parking lot, parking garages were built behind the Dillard's and Macy's anchors to alleviate parking problems.
