Fire diving
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fire diving is a fictional extreme sport. It consists of divers attempting to sneak themselves into the tanks of water bombers and firefighting helicopters, and then be dumped out over a fire, where they will then parachute to the ground. The 'movement' has set up websites with spurious techniques, reports and ability ratings.
This "sport" does not actually exist - it was invented to satirise the urban legend of the scuba diver that was found dead up a tree, miles from water. Supposedly, he had been scooped up from the ocean by a water bomber. This is, of course, completely impossible - the intakes are far too small to admit most fish, let alone human beings.
