Fiona O'Malley

Fiona O'Malley (born January 19, 1968) is an Irish politician. She has been a Progressive Democrats Teachta Dála (TD) for Dún Laoghaire since 2002.
Fiona O'Malley comes from a famed political dynasty. Her father, Desmond O'Malley, was a former Fianna Fáil Cabinet Minister and founder of the Progressive Democrats. Her grand-uncle was Donagh O'Malley, an innovative minister in the 1960s. She is also a cousin of another Progressive Democrats TD, Tim O'Malley.
Fiona O'Malley first political position was as elected member of the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council from 1997. She was re-elected in 1999 and resigned her council seat in 2003. In 2002 she was first elected to Dáil Éireann as a TD for Dún Laoghaire.
O'Malley is a member of the Oireachtas Committee on Arts, Sports and Tourism and the Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children. She is also a member of the Dáil All-Party group concerned with matters of sexual and reproductive health. She has travelled to South America and South Africa with the UNFPA and has spoken extensively of the need for a clear safe sex message both in Ireland and in the developing world.
