Talk:Final Fantasy music
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Could we possibly give this page seperate entries (put still on this page)on the music from each game. A bit of information on the styles and motifs would be great. Let's see how much data we can get on each album, and maybe if each gets too big, we can give them seperate wikis.

[edit] Good call Valenkorps
By all means. I'll start by expanding the scope of the article from not just "compilations" to the music itself. "Compilations" should ideally be a subsection of the Final Fantasy Music article.Zaorish 08:13, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
Expanded the intro to set a wider scope for the article. I have to go to bed now but I'll add more as I have time.Zaorish 08:21, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hymn of the faith
As it stands, the article implies that there's renditions of the Hymn for each of the PCs. My experience from my 6 playthroughs, though, was that each rendition of the Hymn belonged to an aeon -- eg. a low, masculine for Ifrit, a child's (or soprano's) for Bahamut, etc. As it a fact that each character has their own theme music, there should be a line break to remove the implied relation to the Hymn. I went a long and changed it, but if anyone objects, please let me know! -- Bakabaka 19:31, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- The CD does have Yuna's theme, Tidus Theme, etc... but it is not the Hymn of the Fayth. The hymn is called Song of Prayer on the CD and there is one for ech aeon. Renmiri 23:34, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The Star Onions
Shouldn't the Star Onions be mentioned as well somewhere? --Pinkkeith 21:35, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Prologue, Prelude, and FFX
Okay, I just want to make sure everybody's clear on the standard definitions of these two recurring themes:
Prelude=Ascending and descending 1-2-3-5 harp part in chords C Major A minor C Major A minor F Major G Major A flat Major B flat Major or their analogues; opening title screen of FFI, FFVII, et al.
Prologue=Chords F Major C Mm7 B flat Major A m7 B flat Major G Mm7 C Mm7 etc.; crossing the bridge in FFI, integrated into the finale track in (probably among others) FFIV, FFVI, FFVII, FFVIII, and FFIX.
Given all that nonsense, I'd like to dispute the part in the introduction that claims that the Prologue was sampled in an early track on FFX; as I recall it, the Prologue was completely absent from the game and a fragment of the *Prelude* was featured in that track. I assume that this oversight was due merely to an error in terminology (prelude and prologue are fairly similar etymologically, after all -- prelude : Latin "playing before" :: prologue : Greek "speaking before"), which is why I transcribed all that musical business and cited occurences.69.168.161.140 03:50, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] FFII Piece in FFVI
It's mentioned in the article that an unsused dungeon theme from FFII appeared in FFVI. Which song is this? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Josparke (talk • contribs) 02:46, 11 December 2006 (UTC).
