Fine Gael currently has no TDs in Donegal North East. In the 1997 general election, Fine Gael lost its seat in the constituency, and has failed to win it back in subsequent elections. However, the party is represented in the Oireachtas by Senator Joe McHugh.[1]
Fine Gael has four councillors in the constituency. Cllr Bernard McGuinness and Cllr Noel McBride are county councillors, and Cllr Peter McLaughlin ("the Egg") and Cllr Paul Bradley are urban councillors in Buncrana UDC.

The party's sole candidate in Donegal North East is Senator Joe McHugh, who was selected at convention in March 2006. The Director of Elections within the constituency is former newspaper editor Pat McArt.
[edit] Party Organisation
There is a constituency executive that is responsible for the organistion of the party within the constituency. The current chairperson is Doreen Sheridan. The party has twenty branches in the constituency. These branches are organised into three districts: Milford, Letterkenny and Inishowen.
