Finale Juvenile Hurdle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Finale Juvenile Hurdle is a Grade 1 National Hunt hurdle race in the United Kingdom for three-year-old novices run over a distance of 2 miles 110 yards (3,319 metres) at Chepstow Racecourse during the Welsh National meeting in late December. There are eight hurdles to be jumped in the race. It is the first of the three Grade 1 Juvenile Hurdle races ran in the UK. The other two are the Triumph Hurdle and the Anniversary 4-Y-O Novices' Hurdle. Since 1988 Mysilv is the only horse to win either of those races (1994 Triumph Hurdle) after winning this race. A probable reason for this is that the Chepstow race is almost always ran under testing ground conditions suiting soft ground horses. These horses will find it more difficult under the usual quicker ground at Cheltenham and Aintree.
