I presume you are the same Filiocht as on ga: ?
I'm sure you'll find plenty of interesting things here. Just to point out there's a noticeboard for Irish Wikipedians at User:Ludraman/Irish Wikipedians notice board.

[edit] James Joyce
Good work, this is quite enlightening! I support this story. On the topic of featured articles, if you haven't already, would you be able to on the exploding whale or give me some feedback? - Ta bu shi da yu 13:17, 13 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Abbey Theatre
Fantastic! I've just reviewed the final parts of the article and it really is stunning work. I think it's time to replace the current stub. And, yes I caught the train. —Rory ☺ 23:21, Sep 14, 2004 (UTC)
I tried and I tried and I couldn't find anything to change. I'm not sure there's much point waiting for the end of CotW nominations. If it was to win we'd just put in the new version and not have much to collaborate on for a week. If it wasn't to win (and I think it's clear that it won't) then there's no harm in putting the new article in the main namespace now. It's up to you though, since it's not really harmful to wait another day or two anyway.
Thanks for the resources on Dublin Zoo. I'm holding out for some pictures; I haven't seen a response yet. —Rory ☺ 11:49, Sep 15, 2004 (UTC)
- Seconded. A fantastic piece of work. Put it up for Featured Article - it deserves it. --195.11.216.59 11:27, 16 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Kells and Durrow
Thanks for the kind words. I am almost finished with Kells. I intend to write a section on the text (i.e. how it varies from the Vulgate, and the scribes), and do a light rewrite on the decoration section making the coherence of the program a little more clear. I might add a few more pictures or at least the carpet page. My next target I think will be the Lindisfarne Gospels. By all means have a go at Durrow, it really needs it. BTW, am I correct in assuming that you are Irish? If you are, I think that the Kells page needs a section discussing the place that Kells has in the modern Irish psyche. As an American, I really don't feel up to writing that. Dsmdgold 13:10, 15 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] DL and Luke Kelly
Hi Filíocht, GRMA as na moltaí. I'll sort that DL page out as per your tip as soon as I have a chance. Does wikifying every proper name not run the risk of creating entries for things that may not merit it? e.g. O'Connell's Schools on the Luke Kelly page? On the other hand, I see that Clongowes Woods College has an entry, so maybe O'Connell's deserves one as well... Palmiro 01:42, 18 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Theatre Royal, Dublin
I saw the changes, thanks. Those two queries were the only issues I could find, aside from the few minor edits I made. I just saw the "would appreciate review" list getting longer and longer so I decided to have a go at a few. On that matter, when do you think items should be removed from that list? Should they only be removed by the person requesting review? I think I'll go ask on the Irish Wikipedian's page.
[edit] Irish holidays
I added to this section in Culture of Ireland, but it needs significant cleanup, I'm working at present, so no time to research or anything, I just really put a placeholder that touches on some relevant observances/traditions. zoney ♣ talk 12:35, 21 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Ideally, each of these topics (Irish holidays, Irish food+drink, etc.) needs its own article and a summary section in Culture of Ireland, otherwise CoI will get too long... zoney ♣ talk 12:58, 21 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Congratulations
Congratulations to you also, with Irish theatre on the main page! zoney ♣ talk 10:45, 22 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Congratulations also on James Joyce making the main page. :-) Great work! zoney ♣ talk 11:02, 8 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] New ICOTW
Do we switch to Geography of Ireland? The Junior Cert has the same amount of support, but was proposed later.
I think Culture of Ireland, though far from featured article status and still missing sections, was quite a success, it was huge expansion for the no. of contributers we had!

[edit] Sesame Street
Object for now. The lead section is a bit short and there are no references. Also too many lists, I think the minor puppers and humans migh be left out at no great loss. FYI, the US version was on both British and Irish TV for years. Filiocht 08:18, 30 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Cyclone Tracy
Cheer for your support. I'm actually a pro-reference editor :P I figure that if I've done that much research, people might as well know how much material I looked at! Besides, it's only honest to do attribute your sources. - Ta bu shi da yu 13:45, 1 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks! That our first ACOTW got to featured article status is a tremendous encouragement to all the Aussies on the bulletin board :-) Ta bu shi da yu 08:51, 6 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] countering systemic bias
We seem to be almost ready to go live with Wikipedia:WikiProject countering systemic bias. I know you were interested earlier. Xed seems to have dropped out, so we are back to the broader focus I was advocating. I'd love to have you aboard. Please, sign up as a participant and also, please weigh soon in on anything you'd like to see changed before we really announce this. -- Jmabel 23:37, Oct 4, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Huh
I'd thought my old acquaintance had disappeared entirely, and I come to find out I'm wrnog. :-) Good to know you're still here....should I ask why the name change? Oh, and long ago I left you a note (after you elft for a while) -- have you ever looked at history of literature? Does it look salvageable, and might your knowledge help fill in gaps? I tried twice to fix that article but it's too massive and I despaired of finishing it alone. Just a thought. Best wishes, Jwrosenzweig 22:12, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Shroud of Turin/Image of Edessa
I have made some changes to Shroud of Turin, but it's probably not as much as you want. My rationale, if it matters, is that I have removed practically everything that is strictly Image of Edessa out to Image of Edessa, leaving only the arguments used by Shroud proponents to support their identity. I didn't think that that information really has a place in the Edessa article, as it is more pertinent to the Shroud arguments. What do you think now? Mpolo 18:01, Oct 17, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Sesame Street redux
Hi Filiocht... If you remember a few weeks ago, Sesame Street was a featured article candidate. You have some criticisms of the article, which I took into account and fixed. You then changed your opposition to support. Sesame Street has since been relisted, and I was wondering if you could relend your support for it. See wikipedia:FAC#Sesame Street. Thanks! -- user:zanimum
[edit] Celtic Tiger
I've put Celtic Tiger up on WP:FAC. Please support it! Another Irish Featured Article would be great. CGorman 10:21, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC)
