Filipe Araújo

Currently based in Madrid, Filipe Araújo (1977) is a freelance journalist with numerous credits in the Portuguese press. His previous work in film includes 3 documentary shorts: A Aldeia do Viagra (The Viagra Village, Ireland, 2005 — Finalist at the 2005 edition of the Lisbon Video Show held by Lisbon’s Videoteca Municipal), C-Mail (The Netherlands, 2005 — Most-watched movie at the 2005 edition of Videomission, the German International Video Reporting Award show; Honorable Mention at the IV Short Film Festival of Oeiras, Portugal; selected for several film and video festivals in Lisbon, Oporto, Barcelona, San Sebastian, Strumica and Tirana) and The Final Frontier (Portugal, 2006 — TV premiére at February 2007 on SIC Notícias. In competition at the official selections of Oxford International Documentary Film Festival, Documenta Madrid '07 and the Troia International Film Festival). In 2005, Filipe Araújo launched production company Blablabla Media, with fellow journalist, author and scriptwriter João Lopes Marques. Their aim is to produce independent documentary films.
