Filip Šebo (born February 25, 1984) is a Slovak footballer currently playing for Scottish Premier League club Rangers.

[edit] Career

Šebo started his professional career with German team FC Köln. He did not make a first team appearance, playing his games for the reserve side Köln II. He moved to Slovakian side Inter Bratislava in 2003 after being released from FC Köln. Eight goals in twenty-five appearances earned him a transfer to Artmedia Bratislava - known for their recent run in the 2005/06 UEFA Champions League.

In summer 2005, after 22 goals in 29 games and the award for the league's top-scorer, he was bought by Austrian side Austria Wien who paid around £400,000 for him. Šebo played 32 times scoring 5 goals for the Austrian side helping them to achieve an Austrian Bundesliga and Cup double.

Rangers manager Paul Le Guen made Šebo his 9th signing on August 3, 2006 after Austria Vienna and Rangers agreed a fee of £1.8M.[1] On August 15, under two weeks after signing for Rangers, Sebo made his debut for the Slovakia team, in a friendly against Malta. He marked the occasion by scoring a hat trick.[2] He later put his successful start for the national team down to eating chocolate before the match.[3] He then scored another two goals in his second international match, against Cyprus.

Paul Le Guen gave him his first starting appearance for Rangers on September 17, against Hibs in an SPL match and he scored. His first home goal came on October 1, scoring a late winner in a 1-0 victory over Aberdeen F.C. at Ibrox. He played his first European match for Rangers on September 28, playing the last 15 minutes in a Uefa Cup first-round second-leg tie against Molde FK. Rangers won 2-0 to qualify for the group stage.

In a friendly against Airdrie United on January 31, 2007, Šebo scored a goal in a 3-0 win for Rangers, his first in 3 months for the club. In another friendly he scored a hat-trick in a 5 nil defeat of Gretna.
