A file system driver is a "device driver" for a file system. The file system driver make the operating system able to read or write to a file system that the driver is intended for. File system drivers may be from third party or not. By default, Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP has file system drivers for the NTFS, FAT and FAT32 file systems.
