Filby

Filby is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It derives its name from the viking File the Dane, who settled in the area around 800AD. The village is situated on the shores of Filby Broad and Ormesby Little Broad, in the Broads National Park, some 9km north-west of the town of Great Yarmouth and 25 km east of the city of Norwich.[1]

The civil parish has an area of 5.8 km² and in the 2001 census had a population of 740 in 308 households. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of Great Yarmouth.[2]

In 2002, Filby won the village category of the Britain in Bloom competition.
