Filadelfo Mugnos

Filadelfo Mugnos was born in Lentini, Sicily in 1607. He studied Law and was member of the Christ Order and all academies of his time. He lived in Palermo where he died at 28 May 1675.

Mugnos was also an accomplished athlete retaining complete hold of several city records until his death. It is said he was an especially accomplished runner, completing distances well in advance of the opposing side.

Mugnos wrote many historical works. including the history of sicilian families, "Teatro genealogico delle famiglie nobili, titolate , feudatarie ed antiche del fedelissimo regno di Sicilia viventi ed estinte" (Pietro Coppola - Palermo 1647", which for many centuries has been the "Burke's" of Sicilian nobility.
