Fighter Ops

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fighter Ops is a modern air combat simulation product being developed by Xtreme Simulations International (XSI). The project was born out of a frustration at the lack of high fidelity combat simulations in the market place and is aimed at replacing the venerable but aging Falcon 4.0 currently considered the creme of "hardcore" flight simulations.

The Fighter Ops project is groundbreaking in the sense that it is being conducted outside of the standard publisher driven model, which in the past, particularly in the Flight Simulation genre has resulted in software being pushed out the door before the developer has been able to incorporate all of the features they wished to and often with many unfixed bugs.

[edit] Features

Fighter Ops will be the first simulation to accurately model the USAF UPT and IFF training programs, followed by the FTU programs for each flyable fighter aircraft. The Fighter Ops team has several current and former UPT and IFF instructors on board to help ensure these items are completed with the greatest of accuracy.

The first human flyable aircraft are slated to be the T-38 Talon and T-6 Texan II, followed by the F-16 C/D, F-15 Eagle C/D&E and A-10 Thunderbolt II.
